Hollywod and its famous panoramas

Hollywood is well known all over the world as the citadel of the world movies and entertainment. Often, we omit to mention that here we can admire one of the most wonderful natural panoramas in America and, why not, also in the whole world.

Do not miss Mount Lee:

One of the iconic symbols identified with Hollywood is, of course, a panorama: the famous name of the place displayed at Beachwood Canyon. It’s hard to find any representation of Hollywood without this image. It was originally displayed in 1923 in a longer version – Hollywood land – as an advertisement that was kept for the time being in a shorter formula – with four final letters less, while keeping the same tall letters: 45ftx350ft (14x110m).

For all those passionate about panoramas, the best view of Hollywood and Los Angeles may be seen from the top of Mount Lee. From there, you can have a full 360° view of the wild natural landscape, the profile of the courageous architecture of the city and the rich residential area.

The spot is preferred not only by the tourists for all over the world, but also by the professional photographers, aiming to discover new angles and personal perspectives on the area.

A big view over the ocean:

On your road to Mulholland Drive – another iconic image for all those passionate about movies – , you do not have to miss the Hollywood Bowl Scenic Overlook who entered the world of famous panoramas at the end of the 80s. From here, you can have a delightful panoramic view of the Ocean and to the rocky Santa Catalina Island, but also of the San Fernando Valley, very close from the metropolitan area, and the Griffith Park Observatory.

Are you prepared to take the best pictures of your life? Fortunately, for the panoramas’ lovers, the weather is mild and sunny for the most part of the year and there are not too many occasions when the rain or fog may block your view to a wonderful natural landscape.

Back in the world of movies:

Of course, on the long list of famous panoramas in Hollywood is obligatory to include Hollywood Boulevard and the famous Avenue of Stars that any fan of the movies and entertainment industry can’t miss from the travel plans of a trip to Los Angeles.

What about the famous colorful panorama of the Kodak Theatre, the yearly home of the Academy Awards? This is another ‘must’ for all those interested in the history of film, of the American culture and the history of urban panoramas. Grauman’s Chinese Theater is one of the favorite spots for experienced or less experienced photographers looking to improve their skills in discovering spectacular panoramic views. Created in 1927, this exotic construction hosted three of the Oscar awards ceremonies.

Sometimes, it may be difficult to go beyond the magic of images trying to discover by yourself places and corners that are not on the usual touristic maps. On the other hand, if we try to look at Hollywood from a purely artistic – and photographic perspective – we’ll easily conclude that many new angles are still to be discovered. It is simply a matter of using differently and wisely our sight.
