Creating Panorama Photographs using a Canon G1 Camera

Choosing the perfect camera to use when shooting a panorama is a bit difficult. Many photographers use a

Canon G1 for that kind of photography. It is commonly chosen primarily because of the multiple settings

that is easily customized and adjusted. Creating a panorama using the Canon G1 is more easier than the

other cameras. Panoramic photos are made by taking multiple wide-angled shots and using the technique of

digital stitching afterwards. Here is the step by step guide on creating a panorama with the use of

Canon G1:

First and foremost, you have to choose the perfect subject matter. Afterwards, set the camera lens into

a wide angle shot. You can do that by simply zooming out completely. The panorama can also be taken

while the camera lens are on the tele-end but you should be ready for the consequence of it. Tele-end

camera lens might produce low quality photographs. Remember that the Canon G1 creates JPEG images based

on the extent of detail on each snap. If you use tele-end camera lens, the Canon G1 camera will produce

a low and poor quality photograph. The concept of panorama requires high quality image. If you use

tele-end, it is completely contradicting to the main concept of the artwork.

Second thing to consider when creating a panorama using the Canon G1 is the shutter speed. The shutter

speed is also known as the aperture size. It is one of the challenge on taking panorama photos. The

shutter speed depends on the lighting condition of the scenery. For sceneries that will be shot on a

night mode, high shutter speed with a flash is highly recommended to produce wonderful photographs. If

it is a broad daylight, setting up the aperture speed is needed. When shooting during the daylight,

camera usually uses low exposure to balance it on too much light. The Canon G1 usually use a very low

exposure level, therefore, it produces dark photos. Setting up the aperture size manually is definitely

a must if you want good results.

Since your camera is all set-up for the panoramic photo shoot, you can proceed with doing a few test

shots. If you are satisfied with the quality of the images, you can fix your Canon G1 camera on a tripod

and start taking photographs portion by portion. The Canon G1 has a built-in image-stitch feature that

is specially designed for panorama photographs. That feature can be used to create a panorama photo that

you wanted. After shooting the whole landscape, you will be left with a single image. However,  if you

are not comfortable on using the feature, you have the choice of not using it. There are still a lot of

software that can be used on digital stitching process.

Creating wonderful panoramic photographs does not require you to be a professional photographer or

someone with a background education about photography. With the good choice of camera and right camera

settings, you can definitely snap and create wonderful images.
